Perpetuum Software LLC:
.NET ModelKit Suite 3.5

Perpetuum Software has released a 3.5 version of its .NET ModelKit suite of reporting, data processing and visualization components. The package now features full compatibility between its charting tool and ASP.NET, the company says.

The updated release includes new versions of the components Report Sharp-Shooter, OLAP ModelKit and Instrumentation ModelKit, but the most notable updates were made to the suite's Chart ModelKit, the company says. The 3.5 version of Chart ModelKit adds a Web Forms Viewer to help developers host charts and graphs on a Web Form.

Chart ModelKit also can be integrated with the Instrumentation ModelKit component, allowing developers to create interactive dashboards for monitoring data and business processes in real time, the company says. The updated version of Report Sharp-Shooter -- a tool for creating reports from data sources -- fixes a few bugs and features new training examples organized in a single location. This makes it easier for developers to find a sample demonstrating functionality they're trying to achieve in their own apps, the company says.

The suite is written in managed C#, the company says. The professional edition costs $4,000 for the first license and $2,000 per additional licenses.

Frost Innovation AS:
Gaia Ajax Widgets Q3

The latest release of Gaia Ajax Widgets is focused on improving the readability of the core code in the cross-browser AJAX library as well as pumping up documentation and samples, according to maker Frost Innovation.

Other changes include new CheckBoxList and Radio Button widgets, fine-tuning of existing widgets and many bug fixes to the library's RichEdit Control, the company says. Frost says the refactoring of core code to improve readability had the additional benefit of trimming down the overall amount of code by about 40 percent.

The Gaia library, which Frost positions as a competitor to Microsoft's ASP.NET AJAX rather than an extension of it, consists of a long list of ASP.NET-compatible AJAX controls including Timer Control, AutoCompleter, InPlaceEdit Control, DateTimePicker, DropDownList, TreeView Control and many others. The price for a single developer license -- which can be used in an unlimited number of projects and on an unlimited number of servers -- is quoted on the company's Web site as 295 Euros.

Centage Corp.:
Budget Maestro Dashboard Kit
This new entrant into the crowded data visualization space bills itself as a dashboard product specifically designed for small and medium businesses (SMBs).

Centage says it tailored the product to the SMB market by tapping into Microsoft Excel. It comes with four Excel templates for these common dashboard metrics: gross margin, net income, working capital, inventory turnover and days sales outstanding. Those metrics can be compared to plans and forecasts over a variety of time periods, and users who have upgraded to Excel 2007 can create additional dashboard types, the company says.

Budget Maestro also is designed to translate financial data into a SQL database, thus also allowing it to interoperate with any business intelligence tool that can read a SQL database, the company says. A license costs $1,995.

Izenda LLC:
Ad Hoc 5.0

The 5.0 version of Ad Hoc, a browser-based reporting add-on for ASP.NET apps, includes new gauges, charts, report scheduler and other features, the company says.

Ad Hoc also now supports DB2, MySQL and Sybase, and has added an AJAX interface to cut down on page refreshes as well as CSS support to help the on-demand reporting functionality blend in with the existing design of an app. Reports can be exported to .PDF, .XML and other formats.

Izenda says the tool allows for rapid customization without any SQL knowledge and can be fully integrated and customized through an API. Ad Hoc is compatible with ASP.NET 1.1 and 2.0, C#, VB.NET and Visual Studio 2003 and 2005. The company requires customers to contact its sales department for pricing information.
