NuGet Feed for Windows 8 Development

Windows 8 finally arrives later this month, and Microsoft needs all developers on deck to help drive the market. On Friday, the company highlighted a NuGet Windows 8 Packages feed in Visual Studio Express 2012 for Windows 8 that provides a "filtered list" of packages for developing Windows Store apps.

NuGet is an open source, package management tool for the .NET Framework. It's designed to help developers navigate external dependencies and configure their apps by automatically adding, updating and removing third-party libraries and tools. Formerly, an extension, NuGet is now included in all versions of Visual Studio 2012. The Windows 8 Packages feed supports XAML and JavaScript development, according to Microsoft.

You can get the Windows 8 Packages feed in other editions of Visual Studio 2012 by following the instructions in this Visual Studio blog. The blog also offers some information on how to get your NuGet packages into the curated feed.

Are you developing Windows Store apps? What tools are you using (XAML/.NET or HTML/JavaScript)? Express your thoughts below or reach me @RichardsKath.

I'm enjoy developing Windows Store Apps in a lot of ways but am feeling handcuffed in several ways such as not having a Compact SQL capability. I love thou how fast and fluid the applications are thou!
